What it's about:
From the author of the popular Weather Warden series comes the debut of an exciting new series set in Morganville, Texas, where you would be well advised to avoid being out after dark.

College freshman Claire Danvers has had enough of her nightmarish dorm situation. When Claire heads off-campus, the imposing old house where she finds a room may not be much better. Her new roommates don't show many signs of life, but they'll have Claire's back when the town's deepest secrets come crawling out, hungry for fresh blood. Will she be able to face the town's terror or will she drown like everyone else?

What I thought:
I read the first 3 or 4 of this series when it came out and I was like 13/14 years old. And back then vampires were huge, they were everywhere. And I was riding the vamp train like no other. I was obsessed.
Fast forward nearly 20 years and I'm not going to lie, I think I like this one just as much as I did before. You can tell the book is dated, but the conversations, romance, etc. But it didn't feel wrong, like some books you read and you're like no man this is too old. A lot of early 2000's books are like that. But not this one, I think it aged well.

Cover:
The only reason I kind of like this cover is nostalgia. But again, it's definitely dated. And then you have the new covers that look like an early 2000's ribbit nightmare, but that I actually really love.

Story:
It's an interesting take on vampires. All the vampire lore is there, but then it delves even deeper in and adds other mysteries and drama in.
It's just unique enough to be different while still having the original vampire lore.

Pace:
I'm going to give this one a 3 just because it took a while to get into the book, it felt a little slow at the beginning but I think it might be because it has to build up so much and have just enough backstory.

Writing:
I've always loved Rachel's writing, no matter what you read by her it doesn't feel like the same author. You know some authors you can tell they're written by the same person and it just feels like it's the same thing over and over. But not with her, especially between this and her adult books.
Anyway! The writing is really well done.

Characters:
Each of the characters is so unique. Claire is okay, I like Eve, Michael is sweet, but I think Shane is my favorite overall.
She did such a great job making me hate the ones I was meant to hate. Like I really hated them.

World building:
I was able to picture everything around.

Ending:
I have a *need* to finish the next one... so I think the ending did great.

Narrator:
I don't have anything specific to say about the narrator.

Overall:
I loved it just as much this time around as I did last time. A great vampire book with mystery, comedy, and romance.

A little Snippet:
“Run first,' Shane said. 'Mourn later.'
It was the perfect motto for Morganville.”
