This week's prompt:
Do you have a genre you haven't read before but would like to?

I don't think I have one I haven't read but want to, I think I've read most genres at least once. However, I would like to branch out a bit with the genres I do read. I mostly read horror and mystery thriller, followed by YA contemporary.

I would love to read more sci-fi and non-fiction!

What about you? Is there any genres you haven't read but would like to, or are you like me? You want to branch out a bit more?

Watch With Me: Encanto

Movie: Encanto
Release date: November 24th, 2021
Rated: PG for some thematic elements and mild peril
Production company: Walt Disney Pictures
Directors: Jared Bush, Byron Howard, Charise Castro Smith
Writers: Screenplay: Charise Castro Smith, Screenplay: Jared Bush, Story: Byron Howard
Stars: Stephanie Beatriz, María Cecilia Botero, John Leguizamo

What it's about:
A young Colombian girl has to face the frustration of being the only member of her family without magical powers.

What I thought:
I'm really not surprised by how much I liked this movie. I didn't know what it was about going in, I'm not going to lie. Finn wanted to watch it and I told him he can't watch without me and John. So we watched it together.
The movie was funny, had bright beautiful colors, the music was great, it had a great story.
Honestly everything you could ever want in a movie like this. I love the cultural references, I love how modern they made it with the style and the love in the movie (They even have a gay couple in it)
The only problem I had was everything happened really really quickly. I was like "wait, that's it?" by the time it was done because it went by so fast.
I think it has a beautiful story about family, about how you can be special even if you're not the same as everyone else.
In a way I also kind of know how Maribel feels. Not because of powers, but because everyone around me has something I desperately want, but can't have. More kids. Everyone around me has a miracle, or a gift, or whatever you want to call it. But I feel like I'll never have it. It definitely makes me feel like I'll never be good enough.

Overall:
Overall be prepared to cry! And laugh... and just enjoy the ride.

Fun facts:
The word encanto comes from Spanish and means charm, spell, or enchantment. It is both used as a way to tell a magic incantation and as an adjective for "sweetheart."

Bruno was originally named Oscar, but his name was changed to better fit the song lyrics, "We don't talk about Bruno-no-no-no-no."

Most of the Latin voices are from Colombian-born or Colombian-descent actors.
Augustin says "Miércoles!" when he discovers Dolores overheard him speaking. This means "Wednesday" in Spanish but is close to the more colorful "Mierda" which means "crap".

Lin-Manuel Miranda has stated as the film was being conceived that he wanted it to be about a Latin American Disney Princess and that he wanted it to take place in the same universe as Moana (2016), though nothing in the finished product confirms the latter.

During a song towards the end of the film, the uncle character Bruno sings the line, "Let it out, let it in, let it go!" while stretching his arms outward in a fashion similar to Elsa in Frozen (2013). While this line is spoken, the notes from the piano introduction to Let It Go from Frozen (2013) are played.

If you liked this movie then watch...

I've decided to join the 2022 discussion challenge! It's hosted by Feed Your Fiction Addiction and It Starts at Midnight.

I decided to only do a discussion once a month, so that puts me at the creative conversationalist tier.

The Prepared Prepper's Wishlist: Tiny Tools

The Prepared Preppers Wishlist is a list of items that I think any prepper would benefit from or be able to use.

This Prepared Prepper's Wishlist I decided to just look for survival items on Etsy. I found some really great survival guides that are small and able to be carried in your every day carry, bug out bag, or in your car.

I also found some tiny knives and other tiny survival items.

What are some of your favorite tiny survival tools? Or what are some tools you wish came this tiny?

Introductory Post: Finn!

I want to do an introductory post for anyone who is going to be a guest poster to my blog. So I figure who better to start with than my 8 year old? He asked me a few days ago if he could have his own blog. I told him that a blog is a lot of hard work, so why doesn't he just post to mine every once in a while?

So here we go, please welcome Finn!

Hi! I'm Finn. I'm 8 and I'm from Texas. I'm homeschooled by momma, she's a really good teacher and I'm in 3rd grade. I'm a bear in cubscouts and I sold a lot of popcorn this year, my prize was $200! I sold over a thousand dollars worth of popcorn.

I like watching movies with my momma. She got a VR for Christmas and she has a game called Rush of Blood and Saints and Sinners, which is a Walking Dead game. My favorite game that I play on the VR is the kitten world on the VR robot game. I'm an expert at that game already.

I like video games and reading. I like listening to music with my momma and daddy.

He had a little bit of a hard time coming up with what to say, so I decided to ask him some questions.

Do you like being homeschooled?

F: Yes! Because I'm a little bit more free than if I went to regular school.

What's your favorite subject?

F: Handwriting.

How long have you been in cubscouts?

F: I'm a bear, so 4 years. I started as a Lion.

What's your favorite part of being a cubscout?

F: Selling popcorn

What are some of your favorite movies?

F: Uhm, Halloween, Sharknado, and Tremors

What are some of your favorite games?

F: Minecraft, Roblox, and Stone Miner.

What do you like to read?

F: Bad Kitty books and Diary of a Minecraft Zombie.

What kind of music do you like?

F: Ice Nine Kills, Black Veil Brides, and Motionless in White.

What's your favorite food?

F: Pizza Sliders!

Favorite holiday?

F: Halloween

Favorite color?

F: Pink

Favorite animal?

F: Cats
What are you most looking forward to posting on my blog?

F: Uhm, about video games! Roblox to be specific.

And there you go! That was just a little info so you guys can get to know my boy. His posts should be... interesting.

Top Ten Tuesday: I Seriously Cannot Wait

This week's Top Ten Tuesday is our can't wait reads for the first half of 2022. I'm hoping I can narrow it down to 10. Because I found a lot of really great books coming out in 2022.

So here is my top ten... Er, 12. I couldn't decide on ten. Oops.

2022 Goals + January TBR

I have several goals for 2022. I feel like that's how it is every year, have goals, don't meet them, give up halfway through the year, and then try again at the start of the new year. But not this time. I am bound and determined this year. I won't bore y'all with the "new year new me" BS or the "this will be my year" BS. I'm just going to do it and keep y'all updated.

So here are my biggest goals!

Lose 100 pounds. I know it seems like a lot, but there will be even more to lose, that's just my goal.

Be able to run... I don't know if I necessarily have a goal of how much I want to be able to run, but as of now I can barely walk without feeling like death.. So yes to be able to run at all.

I want to work out at least 5 days a week for 1 hour each day. Plus a one mile walk twice a day.

Adopt! We want to adopt by the end of the year. We are really hoping to adopt siblings. A little boy Finn's age and then a boy or girl younger would be a blessing. But really we're happy with wherever God leads us at this point.

Get ready to move out to my grandparents property. If we can move out there in 2022 will depend on so much, and this isn't a complete goal. I'm okay with beginning to mid of 2023 as well, but it would be awesome to be able to move out there this year.

Read 200 books.  I want to try to read outside of my regular genres, but you know, you have favorite genres for a reason. That's just what you like, so we'll see about that. But yes 200 books, I have at least 4 challenges I'm trying to finish.

Finish at least one movie series and one TV series a month. At least.

Keep things cleaned and organized. This is something I definitely struggle with. Between being tired, my ADD, being busy with being a teacher, trying to finish movies and books, keeping up with orders, and well.. everything else I have going on, this is hard. But, I know I can do it. Now hopefully I can get help from the others who live with me.

Drink water or unsweetened tea 90% of the time. I want to cut out sodas completely and energy drinks. But energy drinks are hard. I get headaches if I don't have caffeine and I don't like coffee. But I'm wanting to cut as much out as I can. My goal is 120 ounces of water a day.

Aaaand the last goal, I also don't know if I'll hit this one, because I have a lot of other things to focus on, especially money wise. But I'd love to go on a backpacking trip out of state. An adult only, week long trip. Maybe to New Mexico? I have to start with hour long hikes and then day trips and work up to backpacking. But I really really want to.

Let's start with books now! Here are the challenges I want to finish.

A to Z reading challenge (This is 2021 but I'm sure they'll update for 2022)

So that's it so far. I love reading challenges so I might end up adding more!

Here is my TBR for January. I'm starting off with quite a few on the list. I'm hoping to get 3/4 done.
